Stephen Graydon, Lead Trainer and Community Engagement at Simtable
Steve Graydon embarked on his wildland fire career in 2001 at the El Dorado National Forest, where he honed his skills in fire and aviation operations until 2013. Seeking to deepen his understanding of wildfire and enhance his ability to communicate about it professionally and publicly, Graydon pursued higher education.
He attended CSU, Chico, earning a BA in Organizational Communication, followed by a Master's Degree in Environmental and Risk Communication in 2016. Since then, Graydon has been dedicated to serving in the nonprofit sector, focusing on grant writing and management for initiatives related to prescribed fire, wildland fire training, work capacity, and community preparedness.
Since 2020, Graydon has collaborated with Simtable to provide training for fire professionals, outreach coordinators, and other organizations engaged in preparing for and mitigating the impact of natural hazards on communities and individuals. He holds qualifications as a California Prescribed Fire Burn Boss certified by the California Office of the State Fire Marshal and as a Certified Wildfire Mitigation Specialist accredited by the National Fire Protection Association.
Currently, Graydon serves on the Certification Advisory Committee for the Certified Wildfire Mitigation Specialist program. Outside of his professional endeavors, he resides with his partner, child, dog, cat, and a lively flock of chickens. In his leisure time, Graydon enjoys the outdoors, exploring on two-wheeled machines, and indulging in a plethora of audiobooks.
